Arlington Heights has a lot of houses that punish careless work. Wraparound porches deserve a specific mention because they are so often done badly. The temptation is to run a single line along the porch roof edge and stop. What actually makes a wraparound read at night is lighting the rail line and the column verticals as well, so the porch has depth rather than a bright edge floating in front of a dark facade. It uses more product and it is the single biggest visual upgrade available on these houses.
Even spacing across every plane. Straight lines that follow the architecture rather than sagging between anchors. Bulbs facing the same direction. No visible cords running down the front of the house. Those details are what separate a hung display from a draped one, and they are entirely a function of technique.
