Bloomingdale’s housing stock is mostly two-story colonials with multi-gable front elevations, and that geometry is exactly what makes hanging lights here harder than it looks. Gables meet at angles, planes sit at different heights, and an attached garage breaks the front elevation into sections that need to read as one line from the street.
Our Christmas light hanging service follows that geometry rather than flattening it. Each plane gets its own cut strand, spacing stays consistent across all of them, and the transitions between planes are where the skill actually shows.
The practical problem with a multi-gable elevation is that there is often nowhere safe to set a ladder near the section that needs work. Homeowners compensate by over-extending, leaning sideways off the top rungs, or setting the feet on soft or frozen ground. That combination is how people get hurt.

Nothing gets stapled, nailed, or glued. Staples puncture the wire jacket and admit moisture, which is the most common cause of a strand dying halfway through December. Nails split fascia board. Adhesive hooks let go in cold and take paint with them.
We use clips sized to each surface, so when the display comes down in January there is nothing left in your fascia to find next spring. On 1980s and 1990s construction with original trim still in place, that is worth insisting on.
Attached garages are the specific problem on this housing type. The garage roof usually sits lower than the main roof and projects forward, so a single continuous line across the front elevation physically cannot work. The choices are to step the line down and accept the break, or to treat the garage as its own element with its own outline. We generally recommend the second, because a deliberate break reads as designed while an awkward step reads as a mistake.
A roofline-only display on a wide Bloomingdale colonial tends to look unfinished, because the garage takes up so much of the front elevation. Extending the design to garage trim, window frames, entry columns, and walkway markers is usually what makes it read as designed rather than partial.
