Ask how a contractor handles the transition if you have used someone else previously. Existing clips, abandoned hardware, and old mounting points left on a house by a prior installer are extremely common, and a good crew removes them rather than working around them. We do that as part of a first-year install because leaving someone else’s hardware on your fascia is both untidy and a slow source of water damage.
A quote should cover design, product, installation, in-season repairs, January takedown, and storage in one fixed number. Separate takedown billing in January is the most common surprise in this industry, and it arrives at the point where you have the least room to negotiate.
