Our holiday lighting service runs about five months: design, installation, the full operating season, scheduled January takedown, and storage until next fall. On tall New Lenox elevations the ongoing portion matters more than usual, because getting back up there to fix something is not trivial.

On a tall elevation, the in-season commitment is the part of the contract with the most real value, and it is worth reading carefully. Some companies limit free repairs to a number of visits, or exclude anything requiring a lift — which on a three-story gable excludes essentially every repair you would actually need. Ours has no lift exclusion, because that would make the coverage meaningless on exactly the houses that need it.
When a run fails on a three-story gable in late December, the question is who goes up to fix it. With our service, we do, at no charge, for the whole season.
That is the practical argument for full service on a tall house more than anywhere else. We supplied and installed the product, so we know exactly what is up there. Our post on LED Christmas light types covers why commercial-grade product fails less often.
Wind exposure is higher here than in the older, more sheltered suburbs, because the newer subdivisions sit on former farmland with limited mature tree cover to break it. That shows up as more strain on clips and connections through January. We account for it with tighter clip spacing on exposed elevations, which costs slightly more in product and materially reduces mid-season service calls.
January removal on a steep roof in ice is genuinely the most dangerous part of the whole cycle, and it is the part homeowners who self-install most regret. Ours is scheduled and included.
Crews remove everything carefully, inspect and repair each strand, and take it all back to our facility. Nothing goes in your garage. See the annual calendar.
Permanent lighting makes particular sense on tall elevations, because the install and removal risk goes away entirely after year one. Permanent year-round lighting mounts once into the roofline, hides in daylight, and reprograms by app for every holiday.
